Ending Performance

The Ending Performance is made at the last day of Absolute Love Sect's exhibition “God’s Thought”. Oleg and Vava stitch up each others mouths, by that announcing the end of the exhibition.

The exhibition God’s Thought is the first bio-art project in Russia. It eveolves living matter and its manipulation in teh gallery space.

The exhibition is set up in tree rooms.

1st room - time based installation:

Consists of two corpses (female and male) placed on a glass table, fly maggots grown on the muscle tissue of the corpses, two light projectors, 8 monitors, 8 cow’s brains, hanged down from the ceiling over the corpses.

The corpses are covered with plastic and heathen by the projectors, placed under the table. The installation is like hot house where the maggots are grown.
Under the table a video camera is fixed. It translates an image of the maggots to eight TV monitors in the gallery space. There is a delay of 5 seconds between the images on each monitor.

The representation of the maggot’s growing and their transformation into flies is the subject of the video.

2nd room installation:

A cotton web hanged from the ceiling, letter shaped cookies, video projection of flies, words written on the walls with cookies.

3rd room installation:

Video projection of maggots, who eat pap in a petri dish. They make “dancing” movements under the sound of the song “Give peace a chance”, by John Lennon.
