The Ending Performance
is made at the last day of Absolute Love Sect's exhibition
“God’s Thought”. Oleg
and Vava stitch up each others mouths, by that announcing the
end of the exhibition.
The exhibition God’s Thought
is the first bio-art project in Russia. It eveolves living matter
and its manipulation in teh gallery space.
The exhibition is set up in tree rooms.
1st room - time based installation:
Consists of two corpses (female and male) placed
on a glass table, fly maggots grown on the muscle tissue of the
corpses, two light projectors, 8 monitors, 8 cow’s brains, hanged
down from the ceiling over the corpses.
The corpses are covered with plastic and heathen
by the projectors, placed under the table. The installation is
like hot house where the maggots are grown.
Under the table a video camera is fixed. It translates an image
of the maggots to eight TV monitors in the gallery space. There
is a delay of 5 seconds between the images on each monitor.
The representation of the maggot’s growing and
their transformation into flies is the subject of the video.
2nd room installation:
A cotton web hanged from the ceiling, letter shaped
cookies, video projection of flies, words written on the walls
with cookies.
3rd room installation:
Video projection of maggots, who eat pap
in a petri dish. They make “dancing” movements under the sound
of the song “Give peace a chance”, by John Lennon.
